Store closed today

Let's see...

Bread. Check.
Milk. Check.
Toilet paper. Check.
Cookies. Check.
Snow in Virginia Beach. CHECK, CHECK and CHECK!!!!

Can you believe it?!? Real, live, white, cold SNOW!

Because of the snow, Beach Scrapbooks will be CLOSED TODAY.

(We may or may not be open tomorrow...check here for more details.)

My kids were so giddy this morning, they went outside just before 8:00. I'm sure the neighbors were thrilled...

Colby wanted to shovel the sidewalk for us. Isn't that nice? It's practically covered again, so I'm sure he will be shoveling a few times today. Wonder how many times he'll shovel before he realizes that it's really NOT all that fun :)

Marisa and our dog Reese had fun just running through the snow. It's really the first time either of them have ever seen any snow accumulation. I'm not sure who had more fun!

This ruler shot was taken at around 8 this morning. It's been snowing like crazy since then, so I know it's more by now.

I hope that you'll break out the camera today and snap a few pictures. We'd love to see them. SEND YOUR SNOW PICTURES, along with your name, to jen@beachscrapbooks.com ...I'll post them on the blog :)

Enjoy this WHITE, snowy day!

Hump Day!

It's Wednesday and that means there is a fabulous Hump Day kit available for only $5! It is AMAZING, WONDERFUL, and SUPER CUTE and I MADE IT! HAHAHAHA! Melissa here, taking over the blog for a second. I spoke to Jen this morning as she was leaving for the airport. She has tons of photos from CHA that she will post tomorrow...or as soon as she recovers from her jet lag. Have a wonderful day and pop in to keep Amy company this afternoon. And...to pick up my AMAZING and WONDERFUL Hump Day kit!

Happy Tuesday!

Way to go USSNEWCO! You get an A :) And, Narda...well...you get an A for effort!!

The first one, who wishes flat tires on people, is none other than BARRY! (His answers actually made me laugh out loud.) This picture was taken during our staff crop when Barry was creating one of his fabulous Christmas ornaments. His talent is simply ah-mazing! If you've never taken one of his card classes, you should!!

Next up...our very own xylophone player...JANICE! Here she is with her always-helping-around-the-store husband Donny. And, for those who don't know, Janice is my mother...together, we own this crazy little place called Beach Scrapbooks :)

And, last but certainly not least...ME! This is my beautiful family at Busch Garden's Christmas Town last month (freezing our butts off I might add)...my husband Jason and our two kids, Colby and Marisa.

The staff person who wasn't featured here is Elizabeth. (She was visiting her mother out of town and NOT on the computer - what a concept!!) But, we still love her, and she's a great addition to our team :)

So, there ya have it. Personally, I think we have the most fabulous staff around - they are a group of men and women who not only work at a scrapbook store, but have a passion for their hobby and love sharing it with YOU!

Be on the lookout...I'll post CHA pictures tonight or tomorrow morning. We're going out to dinner with Kris from Silhouette tonight...did you see that they just released IRON ON heat transfer material? SWEET! Check it out on their blog.

Have a WONDERFUL Tuesday!

Flat tires, tap dancing and cats with claws

Good Sunday morning from SUNNY California! The rains have finally stopped and the view of the snow covered mountains in the distance is beautiful :) We are off to start the first official day of CHA - VERY exciting! I will tell you that we've seen some great stuff so far...more on that tomorrow morning.

But...let's get right to the staff guesses. Narda, one of these days you are going to get them right!! Maybe today??

The answers are...#1...SUSAN. She and her lovely husband Brent are shown below. (ack! get a room!)

The answer to #2 is...LINDA! Here she is at Christmas with her husband Nick, their son AJ and their little family friend Diego.

Now...on to the LAST day of fun, useless staff trivia. I know, you're sad. But, c'mon people...I've got CHA pictures to show you!!!

Leave me some love (otherwise known as comments) and see if you can get these right. I will give you one clue...ONE person on our staff did not answer the questions...which means they are not on here. Happy guessing!

Then...you leave a comment as to who you think I'm describing. Easy enough? (And, for all you blog lurkers, please - for the love of all good things - PLEASE comment so that I'm not playing this game by myself!!!)

Just to help you along...here is a picture of our fabulous staff taken at our last staff meeting (which was at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning - ugh!). NEW Tattered Angels - coming soon!

As you may or may not already know...the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) tradeshow is at the end of this month in California. This is where we get to see all the latest and greatest products that are about to hit the market. (This is also where we'll thaw out from all these freezing temperatures!)

Leading up to that show, many vendors are releasing sneak peeks (like Tim's new Sizzix dies posted below). I wanted to share this one with you because I love it! If you love Glimmer Mist, I think YOU will love it too :)

And...if you've noticed our practically empty Glimmer Mist rack...it's because we will be placing our order at this show (so that we can include all the brand new stuff at the same time). So, don't worry, it's coming soon!

More info on the new Sizzix dies by Tim Holtz

Here's what Tim says about his upcoming, new "Alterations" line with Sizzix...

"the "alterations" line will include 18 steel rule dies (these are the ones that will cut through a variety of materials thick or thin including grunge), 3 decorative strips (these are thinner dies that will only cut paper, but allow more intricate detail and designs), 16 texture fades (these are embossing folders with a twist, more about that later), and even a new machine - no, not the new eclipse - something entirely different (but these will also work in the bigshot machines). here are a few of the new die designs - i look forward to this new adventure...t!m"

(sorry, this image has been removed until the official release date)

(A sneak peek is shown above. Click on the image to enlarge.)

Sooo...what do you think so far?!? Leave a comment and let us know!
